Antonio approached me for consulting and private online training so he could learn to build rammed earth himself. He has been a good apprentice and done some nice work. This fence is a practice project before building his future dream home.

Combine rammed earth with a west coast design aesthetic and you have a sophisticated home that looks like it has always belonged there and one that will last for the next generation or more. The golden rammed earth blends so well with the western red cedar and fir, the large beams were milled on the property and the thick cedar used for the benches was salvaged. This home is a great example of stabilized rammed earth being used for structural purposes, it supports 3 bedrooms on the second floor. Custom woodworking throughout the home adds to a feeling of luxury but also an earthy sophistication.

This house with its 2-foot-thick (60 cm) insulated rammed earth walls, embodies both sustainability and comfort, offering thermal mass that keeps the interior warm despite the harsh, snowy Canadian landscape outside. The rich, chocolate-toned earth walls create a striking contrast with the warm tones of maple woodworking, while the exposed fir beams and wood flooring lend a natural, grounded feel. The layout, featuring four bedrooms and two washrooms, is designed to maximize light and space, ensuring a cozy yet open living experience. The combination of raw, earthy materials and modern craftsmanship makes this home not only an architectural statement but also a sanctuary from the busy world.
