A rammed earth house is truly a site to behold, not only are they beautiful but it is the feeling you have when you are inside one. There is a a sense of strength, security and warmth that earthy pastel wall colors evoke. These are just a small sample of pictures from our projects. Aterra Quebec House
I designed this house so that it could be constructed as a cost effective owner build. I trained Pete in person offsite and onsite to get him going. As you can see he did a fantastic job and created a beautiful home. This house uses the roof cavity to add more living space at an affordable price whilst reducing the footprint of the building. This home has 3 bedrooms, 3 washrooms, office and has a large family room upstairs to give the adults peace on the main floor. Thanks to the new owner Marc for sending me the updated pictures.
Bronica House
The clients approached me with a request to design them a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom + office rammed earth home on their acreage in northern BC, Canada. One of the most important desires was to have a hexagon shaped great room. Additionally they wanted to be involved in the build, so naturally I needed to incorporate that into the design of the home as well. The strategy was to have modest length wall sections for the rammed earth walls, this reduced build time and costs. Additionally we held a series of workshops during the wall build.
Stowel Lake Farm House
This is Jen and David’s rammed earth house on Stowel Lake farm, Salt Spring Island, BC. It is truly a sophisticated home that blends in perfectly with the natural surroundings.
Ravine House
This rammed earth house was built on the top of a ravine that has a creek running through it. Our client Elizabeth was adventurous and decided to make her walls pink and the results were outstanding as you can see.
Hart House
The rammed earth walls for this house were built for Josh and Heidi on Salt Spring Island, BC. They were brave enough to choose red for their wall color, it was a fantastic choice! The rammed earth is complimented nicely thanks to Josh’s great word-working skills. Tight radius curved rammed earth walls invite people to the entrance of the home.
