Rammed Earth Pictures
The following pictures are only a small sample of what is possible with rammed earth. These are a few of our non-house building projects that show you another side of this beautiful, durable and sophisticated style of natural building!

Wall Features
We love variety: color, texture, wall shapes etc.. Over the years we have been fortunate to have clients that have collaborated in our creativity. There are so many avenues of creative expression that really make walls unique and like no other.

Silver Mountains meets Charcoal Sea
Our client who is a builder approached us looking for an artistic feature wall for his personal residence. This is the result of the collaboration and unrestrained creativity.

Japanese Gate
These walls were built for the Japanese Garden society on Salt Spring Island. They wanted to use 2 rammed earth walls with traditional Japanese woodworking to create a beautiful entrance to the Peace Park.

Vernon Gazebo
Our clients in Vernon are now enjoying the summers lounging in the shade of their rammed earth gazebo. The walls were built in a series of workshops with our students. Max stayed after the workshop to work with the owner to put the roof on.

Whistler Fireplace
This rammed earth fireplace facing was a collaboration between myself and Eric from Whistler. We worked together over a weekend to face an already existing fireplace in his home that had yet to be encased. Although seemingly simple, it was very challenging since it’s much easier to make the rammed earth first and put a fireplace insert in after. With that said, we did enjoy the challenge and were happy with our efforts.

Baron Moon Gate
What better way to enter your garden than though an earthy chocolate moon gate. This serene aperture adds a mystique to the transition between house and garden. Moon gates have been used for centuries used as entrances because their circular shape symbolizes unity, harmony, and the cyclical nature of life.

Brazil Fence
Antonio approached me for consulting and private online training so he could learn to build rammed earth himself. This fence is a practice project before building his future dream home.

Chemainus Greenhouse Wall
Rammed earth has great thermal mass and this is why Scott and Carla chose it for their new greenhouse. The heat retention properties of the thick wall allow heat to soak into the wall capturing solar energy which increases the growing season for the plants inside.

Rammed Earth Color Samples
This rammed earth color palette shows only some of the possible colors for walls, there are more than 100 shades to choose from. We normally make many samples before a project to find the right color combination that a client will love.
